我获得国家留学基金委员会公派留学资助，于2014年9月至2015年9月在美国宾夕法尼亚大学（University of Pennsylvania）人口研究中心和社会学系学习。一年的学习过程主要包括了如下内容：
1、旁听五门社会学系的课程。分别是Paul D. Allison教授的Quantitative Methods in Sociology I，Emily Hannum教授的Survey Data Collection和Professionalization Seminar课程，Hyunjoon Park教授的Quantitative Methods in Sociology II以及Guobin Yang教授的Media, Culture, and Society in Contemporary China。
2、参加宾夕法尼亚大学的各类学术活动，比如社会学系和人口中心的讲座、论文工作坊，以及宾大当代中国研究中心的讲座和会议。
3、完成两篇论文并在美国参加3次学术会议，在会议上报告了论文。"Gender inequality in wealth: Determinants of wife’s home ownership in Urban China" presented at the annual meeting of the North American Chinese Sociologists Association（Chicago, August 21, 2015）and at the summer meeting of International Sociological Association, RC28 (Social Stratification & Mobility)（Philadelphia, August 17-19, 2015）. "Returns to vocational and academic secondary education in China: An analysis with treatment regression" presented at the 59th Annual Comparative and International Education Society, Washington, DC. March 8-13, 2015.
4、参观大学校园和博物馆。参观了Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The University of Chicago, Columbia University, Pennsylvania State University, Georgetown University, Temple University, Drexel University, Northeastern University等著名大学。参观了National Museum of Natural History, National Gallery of Art, National Air and Space Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, Boston Public Library, Museum of Fine Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell等博物馆。
5、论文投稿与发表。《从科学主义到合法性——国外"风险与组织"研究综述》（独著）发表于《国外社会科学》2015年第4期，并被《人大复印资料（社会学）》（2015年第11期）转载。《职业教育与普通高中教育收入回报之差异》（合著）和《游幕：文人政治参与和清代官僚系统》（独著）在投稿过程中。
6、阅读文献和准备学位论文材料。通过宾大图书馆的数据库系统，寻找到一些相关文献资料，将有利于学位论文的完成。
总体而言，在美国的一年学习让我在社会学和人口学专业知识上有所增进，并通过听讲座、工作坊和参加会议的方式获知了学界当前的研究议题和研究热点，对自身的学习和研究有诸多启发。期待今后有机会继续前往美国学习交流。
